Preparation
How to makeyour Moon Milk.
Four small steps for a smooth, creamy cup. Hot water first, then the powder while you froth.
-
Hot water first.
Pour 8 to 10 oz of hot water into your mug before anything else. This order is what keeps it smooth.
-
Add the powder while you froth.
Use one sachet from your Discovery Kit, or one serving from the bag. Add it as you whisk or froth. Don't add it first and stir after.
-
Froth until smooth and creamy.
Keep going until there are no lumps and it looks silky. A frother gives the creamiest cup.
-
Drink it warm.
Enjoy it fairly soon after you make it. If you're sipping slowly, give it a stir or a swirl every so often.
Why the order matters
Moon Milk is mostly casein, a slow-digesting protein. That's what makes it a good fit for the evening, and it also means it thickens as it sits and cools.
Nothing is wrong with it when that happens. That's just how casein behaves. Hot water first and powder while frothing keeps it from clumping.
If your cup didn't turn out right
It got thick or settled at the bottom
Froth it a little longer next time and drink it while it's warm. If you're sipping slowly, stir or swirl now and then.
I found clumps
Check the order: hot water in the mug first, then the powder added while you froth or whisk. Powder first is what causes clumps.
I don't have a frother yet
A whisk works. Add the powder slowly while whisking in the hot water. A frother is faster and gives a creamier texture.
